High School Placement Test (HSPT)

All incoming freshmen must take the Scholastic High School Placement Test (HSPT). This helps us in the admissions process to gain a better sense of a student’s level in the core academic subject areas. Available resources to help applicants prepare for this exam are listed below. Two test dates are available for your child to choose from, both scheduled on the campus of Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School. To register your child for the placement test, please submit an application. A reminder email will be sent to you the week prior to testing with what is requested for test day.
Students who are eligible to receive the extended time on testing, can use up to time and a half or approximately four hours total. Please submit your child’s educational evaluation to include the diagnosis as well as current school support plan for approval.
Test Dates:
- Saturday, November 8 at 8:30 am
- Monday, November 24 at 8:30 am
Test Format:
- Verbal Skills – 60 questions / 18 minutes
- Quantitative Skills – 52 questions / 30 minutes
- Reading – 62 questions/ 25 minutes
- Mathematics – 64 questions / 45 minutes
- Language – 60 questions / 25 minutes

This is open to incoming 2026/2027 Freshmen students who attend area public or private schools or are homeschooled. Registration IS required.
Wednesday, January 21, 2026 | 9am-1:30 pm
This is for current students of our partner schools (St. Martha’s, St. Mary’s, Incarnation, Epiphany, or St. Joseph’s). Registration is NOT required.
This event is in lieu of a traditional one-on-one shadow day. Please use the link below to register your child if they attend an area public or private school or are homeschooled. We look forward to hosting them on campus!
