Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School

Since 1959, Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School has been educating and forming the hearts and minds of young leaders from Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties in the beauty of the Catholic faith. At Mooney, we strive to empower our students to deepen their faith, discover their passions, and pursue a purposeful life in service to our community and the world beyond. Our holistic college preparatory curriculum challenges our students to pursue personal and academic excellence as a foundation for character development and as a springboard for college placement.

Curriculum

Cardinal Mooney provides a challenging and diverse college-prep curriculum with full honors, Advanced Placement, and learning strategies programs. The AP Capstone Diploma is offered to eligible students for their junior and senior years. We offer a 14:1 student teacher ratio led by highly qualified and engaging faculty.

Service

Service to the community is an indispensable part of our Christian heritage. All Cardinal Mooney students actively participate in community service. Our motto “Serving God in the Community,” emphasizes a strong sense of family, faith, personal responsibility, and community service. Our students complete over 30,000 hours of community service per year.

Athletics

Cardinal Mooney fields 28 different teams in 14 different sports. Our Cougar Football team won the State Championship in 2023/2024! In 2019, Cardinal Mooney held three state titles. The Girls Volleyball team won the state championship and Boys’ Golf and Girls’ Swimming each had individual title winners. From football to tennis and from lacrosse to basketball, Cardinal Mooney offers a full array of athletic programs for our students.

The arts curriculum at Cardinal Mooney is designed to encourage students to be expressive and creative while igniting a lifelong interest in the arts. Classes range from musical theatre; music instruction; band and string performance groups; visual arts and digital graphics.
