Seasonal Highlights

Congratulations to Cardinal Mooney Swimmers Jillian Santiago and Matthew Nutter. Both competed in the State Championship this past weekend. Matt finished 3rd in the 100 freestyle and 6th in the 200 freestyle. Jillian finished 7th in the 200 freestyle and 12th in the 100 freestyle! Congrats on a great season!-11/14/16

Congratulations to the Cougar Swim Team! Jillian Santiago and Matthew Nutter won district titles this weekend. Jillian finished 1st in the 200 freestyle and 2nd in the 100 freestyle. Matt won both the 100 and 200 freestyle events. Katherine Pepe and Cogan Brooks also advanced to the regional meet in individual events. Jillian, Katherine, and Cogan then teamed up with Blythe Brooks to post their best relay times to also qualify in both the 200 Medley and 200 Free relays. Sophomore Justin Resnick swam his best times and narrowly missed qualifying for the Regional Meet. Congratulations again to the Swim Crew and good luck Friday at the Regional Championship Meet at Florida Gulf Coast University!-10/31/16


Alice Smithers

As a native of Cincinnati, Alice brings her life of swimming and coaching with her as she begins her 16th year as head coach of the cougars. Alice was World Swimmer of the Year in 1970 when she broke three world records in the 100 and 200 meter butterfly. She was a part of the U.S. National Team 4 X100 medley relay the set the world record in Osaka,Japan. Alice’s greatest accomplishment is her wonderful family which continues to grow. Alice’s husband, Bob, is a 1965 Mooney graduate. Their oldest son, Jason, is a flight engineer on the Pave Hawk helicopter with the U.S. Air Force.  He and his wife, Tibisay, have a beautiful four year old daughter, lasbel Fiona. Alice and Bob’s second son, Joshua and his wife, Natalie, are 1995 Mooney graduates. They have four amazing children, Jackson (2/12/02-4/27/05), Madison(11), Hope(7) and Trey(3). Alice’s very athletic daughter, Kristen, is a 1998 CMHS graduate, played basketball at Seminole Community College and Georgia Southern University. She graduated from University of Florida and is currently working for Marathon Health and Wellness.
