There are many reasons why a home volleyball game is my favorite school event. A couple reasons why it is fun to go to a volleyball game is that you get to show off your school spirit. Another reason why it is fun is that you get to show that you care about the volleyball team.
As a current member of the volleyball team, I have a lot of fun playing with my close friends. Another way that you could go to a volleyball game is to tryout for the volleyball team during the summer. You can participate in the summer volleyball camp as a volunteer if you like working with young athletes.
When the Volleyball Team has a cancer awareness “pink” night, we throw t-shirts into the stands for our fans to catch and keep. When the Team honors graduating seniors on senior night, we have fun supporting what could be their last season of playing volleyball (unless they continue in college).
If you would rather attend games as a fan rather than be a part of the Cougar Volleyball team, you can still support our team. You are able to earn a free t-shirt! As a current player, I really like to see my friends and classmates in the stands cheering us on. This becomes a fun opportunity to be with your friends and watch a volleyball game, together. The Student section is very energetic for many games. This energy helps fuel the volleyball team when they are down or feeling upset.
All of the fans in the student section come out of the crowd and “break down the huddle” with the entire team as an informal tradition at the end of every home game. The staff of the concession stand at Cardinal Mooney home games has even, on a few occasions, offered free slices of pizza, popcorn and Chick-fil-a sandwiches to us. The excitement of going to watch or actually play in a volleyball cannot be beat. Come out and support your Cougars in the fall!
