School Profile 2016-2017

Four year co-educational high school awarding regular diplomas Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School founded in 1959, is located in Sarasota,Florida and offers a competitive college preparatory curriculum, admitting students from area counties and internationally. Our current enrollment for the 2016-2017 academic year is 509 students. C.M.C.H.S. employs 54 administrators, faculty and staff with 46% holding master’s degree or higher. The Class of 2016 received $6.5 million in scholarships and had a 98% college placement rate.

Student transcripts reflect a cumulative weighted GPA which includes one additional point for AP and Dual Enrollment courses, and .5 for Honors courses. C.M.C.H.S. does not report student rank but instead provides grade distributions by class.

All students are enrolled in college prep courses. The grade point average is calculated on a standard 4 point system. Grades earned in Honors and Advance Placement courses are calculated with an additional point value. Athletic eligibility is determined by F.H.S.A.A. regulations.

Honors Courses are available in the following areas:
English, Math, Social Studies, Science, & Spanish (Levels 1 – 3)

Advanced Placement is available in the following subjects:
English Literature, English Language and Composition, American History, American Government, Spanish, Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, Calculus and Music Theory.

Dual Enrollment – College Algebra and multiple elective offerings.
